Please click below to view the preliminary seeding for the 2018 U.S. Middle School Team Squash Championships. As a reminder, preliminary seeding rounds are not final. There will be two rounds of preliminary seeding released before US Squash announces the final seeding groups and player start times on Friday, January 12, 2018 by 9:00pm EST.

The first petition period is now open and will close promptly at 11:59pm EST on Wednesday, January 10, 2018. Feedback will only be accepted through the online Seeding Petition Form 2 - emails or phone calls will not be accepted. Coaches and team organizers may use the petition form to both challenge and affirm the division and seeding that a team has been assigned. In both cases, specific evidence must be provided.

Please click below to view Draft League Standings for the 2018 U.S. Middle School Team Squash Championships. If you would like to give your comments on the seeding, we encourage you to visit the petition form listed below. As a reminder, each version of the preliminary and draft seeding is not final.

This petition period is from now until 12:00pm, NOON EST on Thursday, January 4, 2018. The only feedback on draft league standings that will be accepted will be via the online link - we will not accept any emails or phone calls. Please state the division you are petitioning, the teams, and evidence as to why there should be a change (past match results, etc.). Note that even if a petition has been filed, the US Squash seeding committee makes all final judgements on seeding for this event and your request may not be fulfilled.

The Seeding Conference call is scheduled for Tuesday, January 2. While US Squash encourages coaches and team representatives to join the call if available, it is not required. On the call, we will discuss the methodology of how this year’s seeding process will work. Important call details are below:

11.8.17 - Online Registration Available
In order to sign up a team for the tournament, follow the below steps:
 
Step 1: Register your team for the tournament
  • Click on the green ‘Sign Up’ button
  • Select division
  • Select team contact name (coach or team organizer)
  • Enter contact number, team state, and team name
  • Submit for payment
Step 2: Enter Team Roster (to be completed by person listed as ‘team contact’)
  • Go to the Middle School Championships Team Pages
  • Select correct division
  • Select team from list
  • Click on ‘Manage Roster’ in the upper left corner of the screen
  • Use search field to find players
    • If you cannot find a player in the US Squash system, click on the ‘Membership’ tab, then click on the ‘Create Account’ link, and fill out all necessary information.
    • When entering players, the roster does not need to be in order of strength (final order of strength is due when checking in at the tournament)
Step 3: Check your Team Status
  • Click here to verify that US Squash has received all of the necessary materials for your team

Division/Seeding Process & Timeline:
Seeding Conference Call: To go over the methodology of how this year's seeding process will work, we will have an informational conference call on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at 1:00pm EST. We encourage all coaches and representatives to participate. Call information will be sent to all registered teams.
 
Draft League Standings: will be available on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 by 9:00pm EST.  There will be a petition period following this to allow coaches and representatives to provide evidence as to why their ranking should change.
 
Preliminary Seeding #1: will be released on Thursday, January 4, 2018 by 9:00pm EST. There will be a petition period following the release of this information for coaches and representatives.
 
Preliminary Seeding #2: will be available on Monday, January 8, 2018 by 9:00pm EST. There will be a petition period following the release of this information for coaches and representatives.
 
Final Divisions/Seeding: will be released on Friday, January 12, 2018 by 9:00pm EST.
 
Head-to-Head Results: Only the top five (5) positions in a head-to-head school match that have been recorded in the US Squash system will be factored into tournament seeding. The head-to-head school match result will stand as is, regardless of strength of lineup, injuries, or sickness. Any results after Sunday, December 31, 2017 will not have an impact on Tournament Seeding.

Entry Information:
$500 per team - Early Entry Fee (received before Monday, November 27, 2017, 12:00pm, NOON EST)
$575 per team - Regular Entry Fee (received before Monday, January 1, 2018, 12:00pm, NOON EST)
$700 per team - Late Entry Fee* (received after Monday, January 1, 2018, 12:00pm, NOON EST)
 
*Please note that late registrations are not guaranteed entry into the tournament and will only be granted entry at the discretion of US Squash.
 
Entries must be submitted online with a credit card – No faxes or paper entry forms will be accepted.

Entry Policies:
-          All rosters must be submitted to US Squash by the early or regular entry deadlines in order to qualify for the early or regular entry fees, respectively. An additional $50 per day late fee will be charged to any school that has not submitted its full roster and all forms by the regular entry deadline.
-          No refunds will be provided after the regular registration deadline. A refund before the registration deadline is subject to a $20 non-refundable processing fee.
-          Final order of play does not need to be submitted until onsite registration at the event.
-          Teams can sign up for either the Boys’ or Girls’ division. For specific division assignments, please see the division/seeding process & timeline listed in the “schedule” tab.
-          If you require a receipt, or have any other questions, please email tournaments@ussquash.com with your team name and request.

2017 - 2018 Middle School Championships Eligibility Criteria:
-          All participants must be current US Squash members through the last day of the tournament.
-          All participants are required to have taken and passed the online referee exam before the start of the tournament.
-          All participants must be currently enrolled and attending classes for the school they will represent. Teams comprised of players from multiple schools may compete if their school district and individual schools sanction the team as having varsity status and that team competes together in a US Squash SSP accredited league.
-          All participants must be enrolled in 8th grade or below in order to be eligible to participate.
-          Each team must have a minimum five (5) players on their roster. Matches are played with five players from each team's roster. 
-          Emerging teams in their first year participating in the Middle School Championships may include participants from multiple schools within the same school district. Emerging teams are designed for entry-level competition and will likely not be eligible to participate in Division 1; all final decisions on eligibility are at the discretion of US Squash. All teams interested in qualifying as an emerging team must submit their request for approval via email to tournaments@ussquash.com with information about their players and what schools they are currently attending.
-          Team and player participation in the tournament is ultimately at the discretion of US Squash.
 
 
Accreditation
-          This tournament is accredited by US Squash.
-          All US Squash Accredited Tournaments must abide by the policies outlined here.
 
 
Code of Conduct
-          All Players, Parents, Coaches, and Spectators must abide by the US Squash Code of Conduct.
-          All Players, Parents, Coaches, and Spectators should review the Rules of the Road for tips and tricks on how to manage common scenarios that may occur at tournaments.
 
 
Protective Eyewear
-          All players and attendees must comply with the US Squash Eyewear Policy, which requires that eyewear meet ASTM-F803 standards at all times during accredited play.

Parking

School teams can park in the Payne Whitney Gym lots on Saturday and Sunday for free and Friday after 4:30. One lot is located on Lake Place, and the other on Ashmun Street.

 

Friday about 30-40 cards can be accommodated in the 56 Broadway Lot this time of year and about 20 in the Pay & Display lot at 40 Dixwell. The Garage at 55 Lock Street is an alternative if these fill up.
