Notes:

Please see the above tabs for more information about the officiating clinics.

In support of the integrated campaign to improve officiating and sportsmanship, US Squash is introducing in-club officiating clinics free to all US Squash members beginning this fall.

Officiating clinics will be offered at selected clubs and tournaments across the country beginning in November and will be delivered by U.S. National Referees, US Squash staff or trained teaching professionals. The clinics will provide players with specialized training on rules education and match management while working with live demos and multimedia material. A range of online video tutorials will be offered for players unable to attend in-club clinics due to geographical restraints.

Junior players who wish to compete in the (spring) 2014 U.S. Junior Championships, and the U.S. Junior Silver or Bronze Championships must re-certify at the age appropriate Club Referee level (Club (U13), Club (U15), Club (U17) and Club Referee for U19) prior to their registration being accepted for the tournament. As of October 31st 2014, all junior players must have completed the appropriate online exam in order to remain in the junior rankings in that division.

There will be three clinics hosted on December 10th, 5-6pm and 6-7pm and 7-8pm.

Clinic Details:

  • The clinics will last for approximately one hour

  • Clinics will take place on a squash court, with video projected on the squash court walls

  • Each club can host three clinics per evening

  1. Clinic 1 - 5pm-6pm - U11's, U13's and U15's (adults are welcome)

  2. Clinic 2 - 6pm -7pm - U17's and U19's (adults and U11/13/15 are welcome)

  3. Clinic 3 - 7pm-8pm - Adults (U19's are welcome)

  • US Squash staff members and/or US Squash Regional or National Level Officials will be on-site to instruct the clinics; should no representative be available, teaching professionals will be trained to administer the clinics.

  • Emphasis on rules education and match management, using video footage to prompt further discussion

  • Players will receive small gifts on departure and will be directed to take the new 'Club Ref Test' available January 1st 2014

Sign up for the officiating clinics will work on a first come first serve basis, there will be a maximum of 24 people per clinic.

Any players wishing to sign up for an Under 15 (U11, U13 and U15) clinic and find that it is at full capacity may sign up for the Under 19 (U17 and U19) clinic. Players eligible for the Under 19 clinic however are not able to attend the Under 15 clinic.

Players eligible for the Under 19 clinic are eligible to attend the 7pm Adult Clinic.

The In-Club Officiating Clinics are free to all US Squash members and are a requirement in order to gain a US National Ranking alongside passing the updated Online Ref Test available January 1st 2014.
