Beginning in 1962 and continuing for  the first few years , the tournament was an intimate round robin hardball singles event, attractinging the five best squash players the committee could find. Eventually it combined with a member-guest doubles event and the annual Valentine’s Day Dinner Dance. As interest and participation grew, the Club added age groups, softball singles, and women’s events, bringing the event to a consistent 250 participants each year.

Saturday night’s Cocktail Party and Dinner Dance is one of the highlights of the William White weekend. After the completion of the Men’s Open Doubles Semi-Finals, players and spectators dash home or to the locker rooms to dress for the formal cocktails and the dinner dance.

The cocktail party takes over the main floor of the clubhouse for a lively start to the night. Next everyone heads up to the beautiful Ballroom for an elegant dinner followed by dancing to the accompaniment of a fantastic live band. Everyone dances, especially those who don’t have to play in a final on Sunday!
