DUCHARME TRIUMPHS IN TURKEY TOURNAMENT

Marc Ducharme of Keene easily continued his tournament victory streak with a romp through the Turkey Day Tournament field without losing a single game.  In the finals, Ducharme vanquished reigning club champion Henry Spindler of Keene, 11-4, 11-4, 11-9.  Ducharme had also beaten Spindler in the Halloween tournament last month.

Ducharme started his romp to the championship with a lop-sided victory over Kevin Gordon of Marlboro in the quarterfinals, 11-2, 11-2, and 11-4.  The winning streak continued with a convincing victory over four-time club champion and No. 1 seed Dave Stabler of Keene in the semifinals, 13-11, 11-3, and 11-7.

The second-seeded Spindler had advanced to the finals with a four game win over Tim Fisher of Keene, 11-9, 8-11, 11-7 and 11-9.  Fishers play in the match was hampered after Spindler accidentally struck Fisher in the face with his racquet in the fourth game.  The match was delayed briefly while Fisher received first aid.  The play then continued but Fisher never recovered sufficiently to win the match.

James Rousmaniere of Roxbury won the consolation finals with hotly contested win over Steve Larman of Keene, 11-2, 11-9, 4-11 and 13-11.

The tournament was hosted by the Amalgamated Squash Chowder & Development Corporation.  The clubs next tournament is slated for January 7, 2012.
